What data we collect and why
Account information
camaro.com is a community photo gallery. You can browse without an account, but to submit photos or save favorites you create an account, either with an email address and password or by signing in with Google. We collect your email address and, if you sign in with Google, your name and basic profile information that Google provides. You also choose a public username (your @handle), which is shown with the photos you submit.
Photo submissions
When you submit a photo, we store the image along with any details you choose to provide about it, such as a title, year, model, trim, color, and location. Submitted photos and those details are displayed publicly on the site, attributed to your @handle. Please avoid uploading images that contain embedded location data (EXIF GPS) you do not wish to share. You can delete your photos at any time.
Favorites and activity
We record the photos you favorite so that we can show them to you and reflect them in the gallery’s rankings.
Technical data
Like most web sites, our servers automatically log technical information such as your IP address and browser type. We use this information to operate the site securely, prevent abuse, and diagnose problems.
Cookies
When you sign in, we set a single cookie that keeps you logged in. It does not contain your password and is removed when you sign out. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Analytics
We use Umami, a privacy-focused, cookieless analytics service, to collect anonymous, aggregated usage statistics such as page views, referrers, and general device and browser type. Umami does not set cookies, does not track you across other websites, and does not collect personally identifiable information.
Image moderation
To keep the gallery safe, every submitted photo is screened by automated image-analysis services before it is published, and may also be reviewed by our staff. Submissions that fail screening are held for human review and may be declined.
We use your email address to send account-related messages, such as email verification and password-reset codes, from no-reply@camaro.com. These are transactional messages necessary to operate your account.
Who we share your data with
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers that help us run the site: Amazon Web Services hosts the application, stores photos, and delivers our email; Umami provides cookieless usage analytics; and Google provides sign-in if you choose to use it. If you sign in with Google, Google shares your email address and basic profile with us in accordance with its own privacy policy. These providers process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
How long we retain your data
We keep your account information and submitted photos for as long as your account is active. You can delete individual photos, remove favorites, or ask us to delete your account at any time. After deletion, some information may remain in encrypted backups for a limited period before it is overwritten.
What rights you have over your data
You can view and update your account information, delete photos you have submitted, and remove favorites directly on the site. You may also request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, or ask us to erase it, except where we are obliged to retain it for legal or security purposes. How we protect your data
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and stored in the Amazon Web Services cloud using industry-standard security controls. We do not collect or store payment or credit card information.
Children’s privacy
camaro.com is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a revised effective date.
